We love living in Grand Junction, and there’s a good chance you will, too. But before you move here, there’s a thing or two you’ll certainly want to know.
With that in mind, here are 5 things you need to know before moving, including tips on what to expect when you start calling Colorado’s Grand Valley home.
Many people move here for the sheer abundance of outdoor fun to be had. You’ll be close to more trails and wilderness areas than you could explore in a single lifetime. Here’s a small sampling of what’s nearby:
Refreshing bodies of water, from huge lakes to swimming holes with cliff jumping opportunities, and plenty in between.
Tons of wildlife. One perennial favorite is hearing the elks bugle during fall.
When you move to Grand Junction, there’s a strong chance you’ll pick up a new hobby or three. There’s world class rock climbing, skiing, backpacking, whitewater rafting, fishing, and so much more right in our backyard. You might as well start saving up for new gear now.
Grand Junction is part of the high desert landscape that’s common throughout much of the Rocky Mountains. As a result, you’ll need to drink more water than you’re used to (especially if you’re active). While you’re at it, don’t forget to grab some lotion when you’re out shopping next, because your skin might be feeling a bit drier than usual, too.
The weather can change quickly in Colorado, and despite Grand Junction’s sunny skies and arid landscape, our town is no exception. We have all four seasons here, sometimes seemingly at once. A sunny winter day may have you confused about what to wear when you leave the house.
