A dual special needs plan (D-SNP) is a health plan for members who have Medicare and Medicaid. These members are called dual eligible members, and D-SNPs are sometimes called dual plans. They are a type of Medicare Advantage plan that often provides specialized support and services.
Get More Benefits with D-SNPs
Dual plans are designed for people who may need more help and support because of income, age, disability, or health condition. With a D-SNP, you get to keep your Medicaid benefits, and most plans offer more benefits and features than Original Medicare. You also get more benefits at no extra cost, like access to a care coordinator. Other extra benefits may include:
Routine dental care
A monthly credit to spend on healthy food, over-the-counter products, and utility bills
Routine eye exams, plus credit for eyewear
Routine hearing exams, plus credit for hearing devices
Rides to health care visits and the pharmacy
