The City of Grand Junction Parks & Recreation department publishes a comprehensive activity guide for each season. These activities are in and around the city and offer tons of activities for children and adults alike, making it an excellent resource for your whole family. The indoor tennis center also finds its home in Grand Junction and is perfect for staying active during the cold winter months. It boasts very affordable rates and according to their website, they offer the lowest indoor tennis rates in the entire state.

According to Fruita’s Parks and Recreation website, the City of Fruita offers volleyball, basketball, broomball, ice hockey, karate, and fencing leagues for adults.

For those of you who live in Montrose, or are visiting, the city’s Recreation District offers several adults-only indoor recreation leagues. Winter friendly options include one-on-one pickleball lessons, flag football, co-ed kickball, softball, indoor soccer, basketball, and volleyball.

Like many of the other cities around the Western Slope, Durango also has a Parks and Recreation department that maintains an impressive roster of sports and activities for citizens.
This winter and spring, you can participate in men’s basketball, ice hockey, volleyball, kickball, soccer, softball, ultimate frisbee, and flag football. According to the city’s website, “Most adult sports registrations are handled as a team registration, not by individual sign-ups. If you’re looking to join a team you can leave your name and contact information in the ‘Free Agent’ binder at the Front Desk of the Recreation Center.”
Swimming is an excellent workout with tons of health benefits, and there are several places to swim indoors throughout the Western Slope.
Adult swimmers can find group workouts and other indoor swimming opportunities by joining the Colorado Masters Swimming Association (COMSA.) Western Colorado Workout Groups meet in four locations: Grand Junction, Montrose, Durango, and Glenwood Springs.
