In 2018, Labor Day falls on Monday, September 3. If you don’t have anything planned yet, it never hurts to start early especially if you plan to camp at an established campground that requires reservations.
If your planning is still underway, here are some of the top events and activities to enjoy in the Grand Valley this Labor Day.
For many people, Labor Day weekend more or less marks the end of summer, and getting outside is the perfect way to finish out the season. Whether you want to go camping, hiking, mountain biking, or just spend some time enjoying the sunshine, use these resources to plan your Grand Valley staycation:
Keep in mind that things will be busy because of the holiday weekend. Booking campsites in advance is highly recommended, especially if you have your heart set on an established campground.
Kick off the weekend with a visit to Food Truck Fridays, which rotates between Grand Junction, Fruita, and Palisade throughout the summer. There’s a variety of food from different food trucks, plus live music from local bands. For the kids, check out the face painting, balloon animals, and bump and jump, which often frequent the events.
On Friday August 31 the food truck vendors will be at Lincoln Park (910 N. 12th Street) in Grand Junction. Come with a hearty appetite to enjoy the beginning of the holiday weekend with your Grand Valley neighbors!
Spend the Sunday before Labor Day browsing fresh, local produce at the Palisade Farmers Market. It runs from 9 am to 1 pm in downtown Palisade near the intersection of 3rd and Main. Since the peach season [KK1]will be in full swing, don’t forget to stock up!
This Labor Day, consider giving back. There are so many organizations throughout the Grand Valley doing amazing things for the community, and they need your help. Even if you have Labor Day Monday off of work, volunteering is a reenergizing way to spend a few hours. You might even find a cause that you want to help with all year long.
