Healthiest Restaurants in Colorado
You don't have to eat at home in order to eat healthy! Colorado is a health conscious foodie’s heaven and there are restaurants to suit every conceivable dietary dream. Many restaurants feature only locally-sourced ingredients, and you can sample cuisine from around the world using ingredients from farms around the state.
You’ll find everything from affordable, fast casual restaurants to higher end eateries with an artistic flair.
Denver & Boulder’s Healthiest Restaurants
This is by no means an exhaustive list, especially since Denver and Boulder have tons of healthy restaurants, with more popping up regularly. Give these four a try, and then head out to search for your next favorite (and tell us about it below!).
True Food has locations in other states, but Denver currently boasts the only Colorado location. The restaurant wants its diners to “feel better, live longer, and make [their mouths] happy.” From pizza to salads, to some ‘True-ly’ original cocktails, True Food has plenty of offerings to satisfy healthy food cravings at any time of day.
Snooze, Denver & Boulder
Snooze is a favorite breakfast and lunch pick for a reason. The wait can be long on weekends at the various locations, so bring some good company. Once you’re in you’ll find gluten free options and easily customizable breakfast choices. The menu changes with each season, and local products are used. There are several locations in Denver, one in Boulder, and one in Fort Collins.
Root Down is all about connecting its customers to their neighborhood, and they use local, seasonal, and organic foods to forge that connection. The restaurant itself is in a converted garage, so there’s plenty of character in the physical space to match the healthy food you’ll be enjoying.
A Boulder favorite, Turley’s has been around since 1977. They have tons of organic offerings, hearty locally-sourced plates, gluten free choices, smoothies, and more. Plus, Turley’s serves breakfast all day.
Fort Collins Healthy Eating Picks
Fort Collins also has a vibrant restaurant scene that’s worth exploring. Here are two healthy restaurants to get you started.
A great combination of finely crafted food and beer, Gravity 1020 does not have freezers or microwaves and works with several Colorado farms to source their ingredients. With offerings that include adventurous tastes of buffalo and duck as well as classics, healthy and local has never tasted so good!
Vegetarian doesn’t always equal healthy, but in the case of Tasty Harmony it certainly does (and you can also find rich and delicious desserts, too!) A good chunk of the food is also vegan and raw. The hardest part will be choosing something from their extensive menu.
Favorite Healthy Restaurants in Colorado Springs
The Colorado Springs area isn’t to be forgotten in our healthy restaurants list. Give these two local favorites a go.
Adam’s is all about the slow food movement, but you can still sample foods from around the world. You’ll likely recognize the foods on the menu, too. Fish tacos, mac and cheese, lasagna… it’s all being served.
Poor Richard’s isn’t just about eating – they have five different businesses under the same roof, and it’s a great place to entertain families. Before or after your meal at one of the two restaurants, head over to the café, toy store, or book store. Their soups are handmade from scratch, and they can cater to different dietary needs, including vegetarians, vegans, and gluten-free eaters.
The Healthiest “Fast Casual” Restaurants in Colorado
You can find healthy, fast casual dining options throughout the state, since many favorites are Colorado chains. Chipotle can be a healthy, fast staple, but consider branching out. Whenever you need a quick but healthy lunch, or just want to spare your wallet and save some time, check out these options.
Salad just got exponentially more exciting. You can customize your meal with any number of toppings, and the healthy dressings at Mad Greens won’t pack on the calories if you’re careful. With locations throughout the Denver metro area, Boulder, and Fort Collins, it’s easy to find a location.
Colorado isn’t the only state with Garbanzo restaurants, but we’re certainly lucky to have them. Enjoy fast, healthy Mediterranean food throughout Boulder, Denver, Fort Collins, and Colorado Springs.
Formally only found in Chicago and Washington D.C., Protein Bar has made its way to Colorado (well, at least to Boulder and Denver.) The restaurant aims to serve people healthy food on the go, making it perfect for a quick lunch. You’ll find healthy burritos, quinoa bowls, raw juices, and even protein shakes.
