Don't Miss Your Chance: Open Enrollment and Health Care Reform in Colorado

family-purchasing-insurance-through-broker Don’t miss your chance to have health insurance for 2014! You have until March 31st to sign up. There is a lot of information - and misinformation - out there. Be sure you're informed about your choices as a Coloradan.

  1. Colorado has its own Exchange, it is not a part of Instead, you can find the Colorado Exchange at
  2. The Colorado Exchange is based on a free-market model. It has attracted more insurance carriers than much bigger and more populous states. That means more choices for the consumer!
  3. You CAN’T be turned down for any condition. You’ll get coverage, even if you have a pre-existing condition.
  4. You might be healthy, but accidents happen. In fact, if you are exercising a lot, the chances of getting hurt increase. Take a wrong step on the basketball court? A torn ACL or broken leg costs over $10,000! You can’t control if your appendix gets infected, but an appendectomy averages $33,000. Don’t risk going bankrupt for a fluke accident. All kinds of coverage is available, and will make sure you can get the care you need if the unthinkable happens.
  5. You will likely be able to keep your doctor. Just be sure to check the network of the plans you choose, but there are dozens of options with expansive networks. (RMHP has one of the largest provider networks in the state, and most of our Exchange plans keep that exact network!)
  6. You don’t have to go through the Exchange, you can buy directly from an insurance company. The Exchange is where you’ll get the tax credits, but if you don’t want them, or don’t qualify, you are free to buy direct.
There are so many reasons to make sure you’re covered this year – don’t wait until the last minute, sign up today. Still wondering about health insurance, the Affordable Care Act, and Colorado? We would like to offer some clarity. Just contact us, and we’ll do our best to answer!
