Staying Healthy
Helping our members stay healthy is a primary goal of Rocky Mountain Health Plans. Taking good care of yourself and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is important for many reasons. We want to help you meet your health goals.
When you feel good, you are more energetic, which in turn helps you have a more positive outlook on life. You are able to enjoy your favorite activities, and you are more productive at work.

HEALTHY LIVING
- A healthy lifestyle includes eating the right foods, being physically active, maintaining a healthy weight, and avoiding tobacco products and secondhand smoke.
- Keeping track of key health indicators (weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol) will help you monitor your health status.
- Schedule regular visits with your doctor to determine your personal health goals and develop a plan for meeting your goals.

- Wash your hands
- Cover your cough
- Stay home when you are sick
- Get a flu shot
- Cook meals and poultry properly
- Clean surfaces with a household disinfectant

PHYSICIAN VISITS
Taking care of yourself means seeing your doctor regularly so that if you develop health problems they can be caught and treated early. You should have regular follow-up visits with your doctor to re-evaluate your progress and revise your health goals as needed.
Visits with your doctor are recommended at these intervals:
Infants
- 1 and 4 weeks
- 2 months
- 4 months
- 6 months
- 9 months
- 12 months
- 18 months
- 24 months
Children
- Ages 3-5 annually
- Ages 6-10 every two years
Adolescents
Adults
- Ages 21-40 - every 5 years (if healthy)
- Age 40+ every 1-3 years
SCREENING TESTS
Screening tests are an important part of preventive care and maintaining good health. Talk to your doctor to know how often you should schedule recommended screening tests, such as mammograms, prostate cancer screenings, Pap smears, and colorectal cancer screenings.

IMMUNIZATIONS
Having your child immunized (vaccinated) is important to protect your child from dangerous infectious diseases. Talk to your doctor about scheduling the immunizations your child should receive. Click here for the Recommended Childhood Immunization Schedule.
