Summer Races Throughout Colorado | RMHP

Now that the snow is melting and summer is around the corner, it’s the perfect time to get outside and participate in one of the many Colorado races! Walking, jogging and running are excellent exercises and Colorado weather seems made to get outside and enjoy!

Motivate yourself by setting an objective to participate in summer races like a 5K walk or run, or even a triathlon outdoors. Training for the event is a great way to enjoy the beautiful CO weather and get in shape. Completing that walk or run on race-day is a thrilling accomplishment.

There are races for every interest and skill level. Pick from the list below of many races happening throughout Colorado.

May

May 11: Grand Valley Marathon, Half Marathon (Palisade)

The Grand Valley Marathon, Half Marathon will take place in Palisade on May 11th. The race begins in downtown Palisade and takes runners through the heart of wine country.  To register, please visit their website.

May 26: Narrow Gauge 10 Mile (Durango)

Narrow Gauge 10 Mile, the oldest Colorado race, will take place May 26 in Durango. This race includes a 10-mile road race, 5k run and 15k trail run. For more information, please visit their website.

May 27: BolderBOULDER (Boulder)

The BolderBOULDER 10k is the third-largest race in the country! This year it starts in downtown Boulder (30th and Walnut) and finishes in the University of Colorado’s Folsom Field. June 1: Taste of Louisville Half Marathon & 5k (Louisville)

Take a tour of Louisville by participating in the Taste of Louisville Half Marathon & 5k on June 1. Plenty of activities will be available post-race which include a kids race, food vendors, and other festivities. Sign-up on their website.

June 15-16: Tough Mudder (Avon)

The Tough Mudder Race will take place this year in Avon, Colorado. This 10-12 mile obstacle course race includes climbing 12 foot walls, crawling through mud and numerous other total body challenges. For more information please visit their website.

June 23: XTERRA Curt Gowdy Race (Cheyenne)

The XTERRA Curt Gowdy Triathlon will take place in Cheyenne, Colorado. This summer race involves a 0.75 mile swim, 14.1 mile bike, and 5.3 mile run. To register, please visit their website.

June 23: Strawberry Shortcut 5K/10K and 1M Fun Run (Glenwood Springs)

July 4: Liberty Run 4M, Race-walk and Kids Firecracker Fun Run (Denver)

Celebrate our independence and gorgeous Colorado! Dress in your favorite Red-White-and-Blue (prizes given for best ensemble!) and walk, run, race-walk, or encourage your kids on their own Fun Run. It’s the best start to Independence Day, and the post-race expo will be a great place to celebrate.

July 7: Summer Roundup (Colorado Springs)

The Pearl Street Mile is an after work event in Boulder. This event is great for the whole family! A 1 mile run for non-competitive and competitive athletes as well as a ½ mile kids run.

July 28: Rocky Mountain Triathlon (Silverthorne)

The Rocky Mountain Triathlon will take place on July 28 in Silverthorne. Racers can choose between the International Distance race (800 meter swim, 20 mile road bike, and 6.2 mile run) and the Sprint Distance race (400 meter swim, 12 mile road bike, and 3.1 mile run). August 17-18: Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon (Manitou Springs)
