Rocky Mountain Health Plans Fact Sheet, As of April 1, 2008
- Rocky Mountain Health Plans is a Colorado-based, not-for-profit health plan. Founded in 1974, we offer a wide range of medical benefit options, including PPO, HMO, and Health Savings Account-eligible plans. Medical plans can be fully-insured with cost sharing options, or self-funded.
- Rocky Mountain and affiliated entities provide services to 177,805 enrollees:
- 4,714 fully-insured employer groups with 67,375 Members
- 180 partially self-funded employer groups with 59,248 Members
- 11,192 individuals
- 23,983 Medicare seniors
- 49 Medigap Members
- 11,897 Medicaid eligible persons
- 4,061 children under the Child Health Plan Plus program

- Our organization is financially strong and stable, receiving A.M. Best Company's highest rating for a health plan of our size (B++ - Very Good). Because of our financial strength, Rocky Mountain has been rated A- (Excellent Financial Security) by The Street, Inc (formerly Weiss Ratings, Inc.) This rating places us in the top 20.2 percent of the industry, an elite group of 109 health insurance companies.
- Rocky Mountain Health Plans contributes significantly to Colorado's economy by circulating more than $469 million in annual revenue throughout the state.
- For more than 30 years, Rocky Mountain Health Plans has remained independent in an industry where buyouts and consolidations are routine. We continue to make decisions at the local level to serve and protect Members, not shareholders.
