As a Colorado-based, not-for-profit health plan, Rocky Mountain Health Plans is in a unique position to
understand and care for the people that live in this great state.

Founded in 1974, we offer a wide range of medical benefit options, including PPO, HMO, and Health Savings Account-eligible plans. Medical plans can be fully-insured, fully-insured with cost sharing options, or self-funded.


The organization’s headquarters are in Grand Junction. Regional offices are in Denver, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, and Durango.

Rocky Mountain and affiliated entities provide services to 179,539 enrollees:
– 3,472 fully-insured employer groups with 47,568 Members
– 143 self-funded employer groups with 72,627 Members
– 14,041 Individuals
– 22,900 Medicare seniors
– 179 Medigap Members
– 16,398 Medicaid eligible persons
– 5,826 children under the Child Health Plan Plus program

For more than 30 years, Rocky Mountain Health Plans has remained independent in an industry where buyouts and consolidations are routine. We continue to make decisions at the local level to serve and protect Members, not shareholders.

– 2,535 primary care doctors
– 5,526 specialists
– 3,698 non-physician specialty providers
– 98 hospitals
– 511 outpatient facilities
– 870 pharmacies

We have been rated A+ (Excellent Financial Strength) by TheStreet, Inc.  The A+ rating is the highest grade possible from TheStreet and places us in the top 3.6 percent of the industry, an elite group of 21 health insurance companies.

Rocky Mountain Health Plans contributes significantly to Colorado’s economy by circulating more than $479 million in annual revenue throughout the state.

We are the proud recipient of the America’s Health Insurance Plans Foundation Innovation and Excellence Award in Chronic Care for our Improving Diabetes Outcomes in Mesa County initiative and proud to be named a Colorado Top Company by ColoradoBiz magazine.
