As a locally-based, not-for-profit organization, Rocky Mountain Health Plans has been a member of the Colorado community since 1974. During that time, we have maintained our commitment to improving the lives of our Members and the health of our state. We sincerely appreciate the continued opportunity to serve our Members and the community as a partner in Good Health.
I am proud of our recent accomplishments. 2006 was an exciting year for Rocky Mountain Health Plans with many outstanding achievements in the delivery of health care services. Our initiative, Improving Diabetes Outcomes in Mesa County, Colorado, won the 2006 Innovation and Excellence Award in Chronic Care granted by the America's Health Insurance Plans Foundation. The initiative is a cooperative effort between Rocky Mountain Health Plans and primary care physicians to develop a unique approach to managing patients with diabetes in Mesa County. After three years, there is significant improvement in the outcome measures for the 2,000 diabetic patients participating in the initiative. This translates into healthier Members.
Being an independent organization, Rocky Mountain Health Plans has always been able to quickly adapt to changing market conditions by developing new and innovative health plan choices. During the summer of 2006, we launched our new SOLO Health Plans for individuals and families. With the introduction of SOLO, we also implemented an easy-to-use, web-based quoting and application tool to make it easier for individuals to enroll in the plan. I am very pleased to say that both the introduction of SOLO Health Plans and the online quote tool were met with a great amount of enthusiasm and success.
In our tradition of providing excellence in service, Access RMHP, our online Member and Provider information tool, was also introduced this past year. This service gives Members and Providers immediate access to eligibility, benefit information, and claims detail. Access RMHP also provides a convenient place to make changes and updates to Member information.
As ambassadors of Good Health, in 2006, Rocky Mountain Health Plans was named a Well Workplace by the Wellness Councils of America. We earned this recognition through our wellness program that we implemented for our employees and by successfully meeting rigorous health promotion standards within our workplace. We are proud and honored to be considered one of America’s healthiest companies. Rocky Mountain Health Plans is the first rst company on the Western Slope and the fifth in the state of Colorado to have received this award. Now, we are helping other employers set up similar wellness programs in their workplace.
For more than 30 years, it has been our honor at Rocky Mountain Health Plans to serve the Colorado communities that we call home. As President and CEO, it is my pledge to you that we will continue our tradition of putting our Members first and being a trusted part of the communities in which we live as neighbors and friends.
